Building & Grounds Maintenance Worker (Permanent Part-Time; approximately 29-30 hours per week and eligible for the County’s Comprehensive Benefit Package).

 

 

 


 

Description

General Definition of Work

Performs responsible semiskilled work in providing grounds keeping and landscaping services and the cleaning buildings and facilities; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.

 

Essential Functions/Typical Tasks

Maintaining grounds areas; mowing, pruning, trimming, and spraying grass and trees; maintaining and repairing equipment; cleaning buildings; performing minor building maintenance tasks.

·       Maintains grounds for safety and cleanliness.

·       Mows lawn, edges sidewalks and borders; applies pesticide; prunes and trims trees; weeds flower beds.

·       Removes snow and ice from stairs, sidewalks, side paths and parking lots.

·       Maintains and cleans floors; scrub, mops, strips and waxes floors.

·       Scrubs and cleans restrooms.

·       Empties trash receptacles.

·       Cleans upholstery and removes stains.

·       Repairs plumbing, carpentry and painting.

·       Maintains yard and floor equipment.

·       Performs related tasks as required.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

General knowledge of the use of common hand and specialized power tools; general knowledge of the safe use and operation and preventive maintenance of equipment used in landscaping grounds maintenance; some knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment; skill in the use of equipment to which assigned; ability to perform labor for extended periods, occasionally under unfavorable weather conditions; ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.

 

Education and Experience

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some housekeeping experience.

 

Physical Requirements

This is medium work requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required depth perception, color perception, peripheral vision, use of measuring devices, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining accuracy, neatness and thoroughness or work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, noise, and hazards.  The worker may be exposed to blood borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.

 

 

 

 


 

Location

The position is located in the City of Glenwood in Pope County, MN.  Glenwood is on the shores of Lake Minnewaska, less than two hours northwest of the Twin Cities and two hours southeast of Fargo.

Hiring Range $11.40 - $15.40 per hour
