Prevention Grant Coordinator
Pope County Public Health is
seeking a full time Alcohol Prevention Project
Coordinator. This is a temporary grant position
secure through June 30, 2014. This position will
collaborate with local stakeholders in creating,
promoting, and sustaining an effective and efficient
ATOD (Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drugs) prevention
coalition in Pope County. This individual will work
closely with the coalition, numerous community
stakeholders, and the Department of Human Services
Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division staff and a team of
SPF SIG contractors/ technical assistant providers.

Human Services Director
Pope County, Minnesota seeks a professional,
experienced individual to lead the County’s Human
Services Department.
Pope County, population 11,000, is located in
west central Minnesota with offices located in
Glenwood on the shores of beautiful Lake Minnewaska,
the state’s 13th largest body of water.
The County employs 24 workers in the delivery
of income maintenance and social services and
directly contracts with several outside private or
not-for-profit organizations through a budget of
$3.5 million.
The offices are located in downtown Glenwood
across the street from the County’s historic
courthouse.
The successful candidate brings skills, education
and experience which will guide the agency to plan,
direct, supervise and coordinate staff while
concurrently seeking collaborative working
agreements with other appropriate counties and/or
qualified vendors.
Some of the essential tasks and functions for
which the Director is responsible:
1.)
Works with the County Board of Commissioners
to educate and inform the Commissioners of state
and/or federal policies and funding; 2.) Prepares
and administers the agency’s annual budget in
cooperation with County central administration as
well as the department’s fiscal unit; 3.)
Effectively manages both supervisory and line staff;
4.) Reviews programs in order to maintain
efficiencies and effectiveness; 5.) Plans and
develops long-term strategies to meet mandates and
local needs; 6.)Maintains effective working
relationships with other counties and agencies; 7.)
Communicates positively with citizens and media
representatives regarding programs and services.
The successful candidate will possess: knowledge of
the principles and methods of administration
including planning, directing and overseeing
personnel and fiscal management; comprehensive
knowledge of human behavior essential to working
effectively with individuals and groups;
comprehensive knowledge of public welfare policies
and programs; ability to plan and execute successful
training and staff development programs; ability to
express complex ideas effectively in both oral and
written forms; ability to maintain excellent
relationships with other entities and citizens.
This position requires a combination of education
and experience equivalent to graduation from an
accredited college or university with major course
work in social work, psychology, sociology or
related field;
the successful candidate will present
extensive experience in professional social work and
at least 3 years experience in direct supervisory
experience.
Candidates must possess a valid
Minnesota
driver’s license and must be Minnesota Merit System
certified.
