Services and Responsibilities

Pope County Human Services is the agency of the county that provides financial and social services to county residents who meet specific eligibility criteria in an efficient and cost effective manner while recognizing the importance of treating citizens with respect and dignity. The agency has 27 employees and services about 1250 cases per year. The services provided by Income Maintenance and Social Services are:       
Income Maintenance
    • MFIP (Minnesota Family Investment Program)
    • MA (Medical Assistance)
    • GAMC (General Assistance Medical Care)
    • Minnesota Care
    • MSA (Minnesota Supplemental Aid)
    • GRH (Group Residential Housing)
    • Food Support Program
    • GA (General Assistance)
    • Child Support (Paternity and Child Support Establishment)
    • Child Care Assistance
    • Guardianship
    • Protective Payee Services

The Income Maintenance unit supervisor is Paula Hoverud. There are six financial workers, two child support officers, two case aide and one office support specialists.

Social Services
    • Child protection services such as prevention, assessment, intervention,
       and resolution of child abuse and neglect
    • Mental Health services such as case management, maintenance and
       support of mentally ill
    • Chemical Dependency services which include assessment, treatment
       referral and support of addicted persons
    • Developmentally Disabled services such as case management, support
       and living arrangements
