GIS (Geographical Information Systems)
-
Pope County is in the beginning stages of GIS. A five year plan
is underway to create the parcel layer for all tax parcels
within the County. In 2009, the pilot area included Cities of
Villard and Westport and Townships of Leven and Westport with
parceling complete; 2010 included the Cities of Glenwood and
Long Beach and the Townships of Glenwood and Minnewaska; 2011
includes Reno, Ben Wade, Nora, New Prairie, White Bear Lake and
Bangor Townships; plus the cities of Lowry, Farwell, Starbuck
and Sedan; the remainder of the County will be finished in
2012. Web
Fusion, which is available now,
will provide access to the public via the internet. Pictometry will
enable aerial digital images to view over GIS. If you have
questions, please contact Donna Martin, IT Manager or Darby
Bowen, Pope County Recorder. The images are suitable for enhanced planning. The oblique images are captured at an angle, allowing for the viewer to see more detail, such as building fronts, street lights, fire hydrants, etc.... With Pictometry, you can see the front and back of the house instead only the roof. Below is an example image. Please Email Us for more information or contact the IT Department. ![]() |
