Services and Responsibilities
Pope County employs a Coordinator on Aging, who is a trained advocate providing information and assistance to individuals over 60 years of age in Pope County who are in need of services. The need for services is determined through contact with seniors, their families, discussions at senior centers, county board on aging, as well as referrals from other agencies and organizations.

A very important goal of this program is to enable Pope County elderly residents to stay independent and safe in their own homes or residence as long as possible.

Provides Information and Assistance to Pope County Senior Citizens
• Works closely with Pope County Senior Nutrition sites—congregate dining, home
   delivered meals
• Partnered with the Area Agency on Aging / Senior Linkage Line
• Medicare Part D Enrollment
• Home Visits
• Forms Assistance/ Insurance Counseling
• Coordinates 55/ Alive Classes
• Health Care Advance Directive (Living Will)
• Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors (NAPS)
• Transportation
• Advocacy on behalf of Senior Issues
    • Welcomes questions by seniors and their families
    • Provides Education to Seniors through programs and speakers
    • Consumer Protection
    • Health Care Issues and Insurance
    • Medicare Part D
    • Senior Legal Rights
    • SCAMS/Fraud
• Countywide Outreach Specialist
    • Interaction with public and private agencies to insure coordination of services
       offered for those over 60.
    • Pope County Fair—Senior Citizen Kraft Shack
    • Recreational Activities – motor coach trips, county activities
• Senior Volunteer Network Development Opportunities and Support
    • Pope County Council on Aging
    • Senior Companion Program
    • TRIAD (The Right Information And Direction)
    • NAPS (Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors)
    • Let’s Go Fishing with Seniors
    • Serves on the TAC (Transportation Ambassador Committee) for Rainbow Rider
