Services and Responsibilities
WIC is a nutrition education program that provides supplemental foods which promote good health for pregnant, breast-feeding and postpartum women, infants and children up to age five. Participants in the WIC Program receive vouchers for nutritious foods, nutrition education and referrals to services in their neighborhood, including doctors, nurses and social service agencies.

To receive WIC benefits, a participant must have a health need that nutrition education and WIC foods can help. The household income must also fall within certain guidelines. WIC looks at the family size and income to determine eligibility. The qualifying income is higher than most other programs. Many people work and still qualify for WIC.

In Pope County there are two WIC clinics each month held at the Health & Human Service building, 211 E MN Avenue, Glenwood MN. To see if you qualify or would like more information, contact Ann Ellefson at (320) 634-5720 Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 4:30PM.
